Annette Carol Bening (born May 29, 1958) is an actress. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School, in San Diego, CA, as a junior in 1975. Bening got her start on stage in 1980 and debuted on Broadway in 1987. Her first big-screen appearance was the following year, in The Great Outdoors. She received her first Academy Award nomination for her co-starring role in 1990’s The Grifters and her second for 1999’s American Beauty. Other work of note includes the films Bugsy (1991), The American President (1995), Being Julia (2004), and The Kids Are All Right (2010) and the television movie Mrs. Harris (2005). More recently, Bening starred in the critically-acclaimed film 20th Century Women (2016). She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006.
