Mark Richard Hamill (born September 25, 1951) is an actor and writer. He attended Annandale High School, in Annandale, VA, when he was a sophomore. Hamill became interested in acting while in school. His first roles were on the small screen, including episodes of The Partridge Family, General Hospital, and The Streets of San Francisco. He was catapulted to worldwide fame when he appeared as Luke Skywalker in 1977’s Star Wars. He went on to star in the next two films in the trilogy (The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) and reprised the character for a new generation, starting with 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Other notable performances include starring roles in Corvette Summer and The Big Red One as well as an extensive list of voice roles (most famously, his work as the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series). Hamill is also co-writer of the comic book miniseries The Black Pearl as well as the writer of several stories for Simpsons Comics.
