Richard Wayne “Dick” Van Dyke (born December 13, 1925) is an American actor, comedian, writer, and producer with a career spanning seven decades. He graduated with the class of 1944 from Danville High School in Danville, Illinois. In high school, he was part of the Dramatic Club, A Capella Choir, and the Student Council. During his early career, Van Dyke started off in radio, eventually bursting onto the television scene in 1961 with The Dick Van Dyke Show. He would go on to star in films such as Bye Bye Birdie, Mary Poppins, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Van Dyke most recently portrayed Cecil Fredericks in the fantasy-comedy Night at the Museum film series.
