David William Duchovny (born August 7, 1960) is an actor, producer, director, writer, and singer-songwriter. He is a 1978 graduate of Collegiate High School, in New York, NY, where he was a member of the Student Advisory Council as well as a star player on both the varsity basketball and varsity baseball teams. Duchovny became interested in acting while pursuing a Ph.D. at Yale. One of his earliest roles was a bit part in 1988’s Working Girl. This was soon followed by a role in three episodes of the popular series Twin Peaks. Duchovny’s career skyrocketed after he was cast as Fox Mulder in The X-Files, which premiered in 1993. In addition to the original series, he portrayed Mulder in two X-Files movies and a 2016 six-episode revival. Duchovny is also well known for his starring role in the series Californication, for which he was also executive producer. Other acting projects have included Return to Me, Evolution, Zoolander, and the series The Red Shoe Diaries and Aquarius. Duchovny released his first music album, Hell or Highwater, in 2015.
