Albert Brooks (born Albert Lawrence Einstein on July 22, 1947) is an actor, filmmaker, and comedian. He graduated from Beverly Hills High School, in Beverly Hills, CA, in 1965. While at Beverly Hills, he was an active member of Thespians, along with fellow actor and class member Richard Dreyfuss, and also played football. Brooks took his professional name shortly after graduating. He released two successful comedy albums in the early-mid 1970s and then switched gears to try his hand at filmmaking. He landed his first mainstream film role in Taxi Driver, having already made appearances on several television shows. A few years later he directed his first feature film, Real Life (in which he also acted). Brooks is perhaps best known for his roles in Lost in America and Defending Your Life, both of which he also directed and co-wrote. Other notable films in which he has had roles include Mother, Broadcast News, Finding Nemo (and its sequel, Finding Dory), and Drive. Brooks has also lent his voice to a number of Simpsons episodes as well as The Simpsons Movie, credited in all as “A. Brooks.”
