Kevin James (born Kevin George Knipfing on April 26, 1965) is an actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He graduated from Ward Melville High School, in East Setauket, NY, in 1983, where he was a member of both the wrestling team and the football team (and was all-league in football during his senior year). James started off as a stand-up comedian in 1989 and began to gain fame through appearances on numerous talk shows. His first big break came along in the following decade. Several guest appearances on Everybody Loves Raymond led to the development of his own comedy series, The King of Queens, which ran from 1998 to 2007. During this time, James also started to act in movies, landing his first role in Hitch. Other films have included Paul Blart: Mall Cop and its sequel (with James also writing and producing for both), Zookeeper (for which he also wrote and produced), Grown Ups and its sequel, and True Memoirs of an International Assassin. James also stars in the comedy series Kevin Can Wait.
