William James “Bill” O’Reilly, Jr. (born September 10, 1949) is a television host and political commentator. He graduated from Chaminade High School, in Mineola, NY, in 1967, where he played on the hockey team. O’Reilly got his start in television as a reporter and anchor for various local news stations around the country. He hosted his first news-feature program in 1980 and moved up to national news correspondent two years later. In 1989, he became host of Inside Edition, where he covered both the dismantling of the Berlin wall and the 1992 Los Angeles riots. In 1996, he was hired by Fox News Channel to anchor The O’Reilly Report (later renamed The O’Reilly Factor), a sometimes controversial but consistently highly-rated news and commentary program. O’Reilly is also the author or co-author of over 20 books, several of which have topped the New York Times’ Non-Fiction Best Seller list.
