Bruce Randall Hornsby (born November 23, 1954) is an American singer and musician. He graduated with the class of 1973 from James Blair High School in Williamsburg, Virginia. In high school, he was a member of the Debate Club, American Field Service Club, Chess Club, Band Club, Oceanography Club, as well as part of the Basketball and Cross Country team. He was also voted as “Most Likely to Succeed” by his senior class. Burce launched his career in 1984 with his band Bruce Hornsby and the Range. Immediately afterwards, in 1986, they released their successful multi-platinum hit album The Way It Is.
