Colleen Ballinger (born November 21, 1986) is a comedian, singer, and actress who is best known for her humorous satirical character Miranda Sings. She graduated from San Marcos High School, in Santa Barbara, CA, in 2004. While attending San Marcos, she participated in two choral groups and was a member of the drama club. Ballinger developed the character of Miranda Sings to satirize what she saw as a growing trend of untalented and arrogant singers using YouTube videos to try to gain publicity and success. In 2008, she began a YouTube channel for Miranda and started sharing videos showcasing the character. In addition to the very popular videos, Ballinger performs live and has even brought Miranda to The Tonight Show. In 2015, a Miranda book (Selp Helf) was published, debuting at number one on The New York Times Best Seller List.
