Dana Thomas Carvey (born June 2, 1955) is an actor and comedian. He graduated from Carlmont High School, in Belmont, CA, in 1973, where he was a member of the varsity cross-country team. Carvey landed several early acting gigs (including roles in the films Halloween IIand This Is Spinal Tap and the series One of the Boys) before joining the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1986. He developed several very popular characters while at SNL, including The Church Lady, Garth Algar, and Hans (of “Hans and Franz”). He also became well-known for his impressions of President George H. W. Bush and Ross Perot. Carvey brought Garth to the big screen when he co-starred in Wayne’s World and Wayne’s World 2 in the early 1990s. He left SNL in 1993. Other projects have included an HBO stand-up special, a prime-time variety show (The Dana Carvey Show), and a Netflix comedy special.
