Debra Lynn Messing (born August 15, 1968) is an actress. She is a 1986 graduate of East Greenwich High School, in East Greenwich, RI. As a high school student, Messing was a member of Drama Club, the yearbook staff, the National Honor Society, and Quill and Scroll and was also voted an outstanding senior. Messing’s acting career started out with an appearance in three episodes of NYPD Blue in the mid-1990s. She was cast in her first lead role in the sitcom Ned & Stacey (1995-1997). Around the same time, she also appeared as one of Jerry’s dates in two episodes of Seinfeld. After a major role in the short-lived series Prey, Messing was cast as Grace Adler in the comedy series Will & Grace, which ran from 1998 to 2006. She followed that up by starring in The Starter Wife (2007-2008) and in The Mysteries of Laura (2014-2016), with a role in Smash in between the two. Although primarily known for her television roles, Messing has also appeared in a number of films, including A Walk in the Clouds (1995), Hollywood Ending (2002), The Mothman Prophecies (2002), and The Wedding Date (2005). She will revive the role of Grace Adler for a new season of Will & Grace in 2017.
