Emmitt James Smith, III (born May 15, 1969) is a former professional football player in the National Football League. He attended Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida. In high school, Smith was the starting running back of his school’s football team which won two consecutive state championships. His junior year, he broke the state rushing record. He was also on the weightlifting team and voted Junior Class Favorite. Smith is best known for his successful careers in both college and professional football. He was on the winning team in three Super Bowls and holds several national football records that have stood for over a decade.
