Michael Peter “Flea” Balzary (born October 16, 1962) is an American musician, actor, and philanthropist known as the lead bassist for the successful rock band, Red Hot Chili Peppers. He is one of the co-founding members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers along with close friend and bandmate Anthony Kiedis. Flea attended Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, California where the band was formed. In 1984, Flea burst into the rock scene with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and their debut album titled, The Red Hot Chili Peppers. In addition, Flea is a founding member of an organization founded in 2001 that helps foster music education in the Los Angeles school district called the Silverlake Conservatory of Music.
