John Gavin Malkovich (born December 9, 1953) is an actor and director. He graduated from Benton Consolidated High School, in Benton, IL, in 1972. He was active at Benton Consolidated, participating in football, madrigals, drama, and Latin Club, among other activities. He got his start acting and directing in the live theater arena. His first feature film role was in 1984’s Places in the Heart, for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He became widely known a few years later when he appeared in Dangerous Liaisons. Malkovich has appeared in over 70 films thus far, including Empire of the Sun, The Killing Fields, Con Air, Burn After Reading, and RED (and RED 2). One of his most unique projects was his appearance in the highly imaginative 1999 film Being John Malkovich.
