Kelly Brianne Clarkson (born April 24, 1982) is a singer and songwriter. She is a 2000 graduate of Burleson High School, in Burleson, TX. While at Burleson, she was an active participant in choir and in the school’s annual talent show (where she was already winning first-place awards). Just two years after graduating, Clarkson was the season one winner on American Idol, and a record deal was almost immediately signed. Her first album, Thankful, came out in 2003 and went double-platinum. She has released a number of albums since then and continues to be a chart topper and award winner.
