Neil Leslie Diamond (born January 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. He graduated in 1958 from Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, New York. While in high school Neil was on the fencing team. Although his lifetime ambition was to be a biologist, a music publishing company offered him a writing contract, and he decided to change career paths. With over 125 million records sold he is one of the top-selling artists of all times. He is currently a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as the Songwriters Hall of Fame. To this day, he is still regularly on the road and writing songs.
