Neil Patrick Harris (born June 15, 1973) is an actor, singer, and television host. He is a 1991 graduate of La Cueva High School, in Albuquerque, NM. Harris was already acting long before high school and landed his first breakthrough role, the title character in the series Doogie Howser, M.D., when he was just 15. After a string of television and film roles, he experienced newfound popularity when he appeared as a fictionalized version of himself in 2004’s Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. The following year, he was cast as Barney Stinson in the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Harris has been in high demand since then. He has hosted the Tony Awards, the Primetime Emmy Awards, and the Academy Awards. He has appeared on Broadway (in Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Cabaret, among other shows). Other recent work of note includes Gone Girl and the upcoming Netflix show A Series of Unfortunate Events.
