Pat Sajak (born Patrick Leonard Sajdak on October 26, 1946) is a television personality. He is a 1964 graduate of Farragut High School (now Farragut Career Academy), in Chicago, IL, where he was an honors student and a member of the school’s newspaper staff. Sajak started his career working in radio, getting his first job while still in college. In 1968, he joined the army and ended up as a disk jockey for Armed Forces Radio. In the following decade, he landed a position as a TV weatherman for a local news station in Nashville. Sajak moved to Los Angeles in 1977 and continued working as a weatherman (now for KNBC) until Merv Griffin noticed him and pushed to have him hired as the new host of Wheel of Fortune. Sajak came on board in 1983. Although he stopped hosting the daytime Wheel in 1989 (after a brief stint filming his own late-night talk show), he continues to host the very popular evening show alongside hostess Vanna White. Apart from Wheel of Fortune, Sajak has also been a guest host for Larry King Live as well as a regular stand-in for Regis Philbin on Live with Regis and Kelly.

  • Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host for Wheel of Fortune. 1997-1998
  • Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award. 2011
