Richard Stephen Dreyfuss (born October 29, 1947) is an American actor. He graduated with the class of 1965 from Beverly Hills High School in Beverly Hills, California. In high school, Dreyfuss was part of the drama, thespians, and magazine clubs. In 1967, Dreyfuss first burst into the scene with his uncredited part in Valley of the Dolls. It would not be until 1973 when Dreyfuss had his breakthrough with an outstanding performance in the film, American Graffiti. Followed by a series of successful hits such as Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and The Goodbye Girl. Dreyfuss has also been a part of several documentaries such as W. where he portrays Dick Chaney and a variety of television shows.
